Frequently Asked Questions General Questions. Installation Questions. General Questions Sportscard Organizer is only supported for Windows operating systems. It is not supported for Mac OS systems. Because of the vast number of sets that have been produced for the four major sports it is nearly impossible to have checklists built into the software.
However, the software does come pre-loaded with thousands of set names and the ability to add more sets to the list, so you have the ability to add any card that has been produced into the software. Sportscard Organizer does not force you to buy expensive price updates or spend hours downloading prices. You are free to choose from the different price guides that are out in the marketplace to use. You also determine when you want to update your cards prices. Finally, with so many rare cards being produced, price guide information is not available for those cards, so you have the ability of using the price that you feel the card is worth based on what you purchased the card for or other information that you are able to get for the card such as auction results. Sportscard Organizer allows you to enter multiple cards in different conditions. For example, if you have a 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey, Jr.
Card in Mint condition, you can have a separate listing for the card in Near-Mint condition. This is helpful especially for older cards where there is a significant difference in value of a card depending on the condition of the card.
You enter the complete set into the Catalog as one item. When entering the complete set, enter the year and the set name. For the card # you can use 'SET'.
For the quantity, you will enter the number of sets you have, not the number of cards in the set. In order for the software to properly count the total number of cards in your collection you will have to enter detailed information for the set. When you do that and are prompted to select the player name, choose the entry with 'Complete' as the first name and 'Set' as the last name, or enter a new listing that makes sense to you. Then when you are asked to enter the number of cards in the set or box, you will enter the total number of cards in the set. You enter unopened boxes in a similar way as a complete set of cards. From the Catalog you would enter the year and set of the box.
For the card # you can use 'BOX'. For the quantity, you will enter the number of boxes you have, not the number of cards that are in the box. In order for the software to properly count the total number of cards in your collection you will have to enter detailed information for the box. When you do that and are prompted to select the player name, choose the entry with 'Unopened' as the first name and 'Box' as the last name, or enter a new listing that makes sense to you. Then when you are asked to enter the number of cards in the set or box, you will enter the total number of cards contained in the box. The software is flexible enough to allow you to enter non-sports cards as well as memorabilia.
All you need to do is create a set name such as 'Autographed Baseball' or 'Star Wars' and a sport such as Non-Sport or some other appropriate listing for entry in the Catalog. If you are entering detailed information you will need to choose or create an appropriate player to use. While not all of the additional fields might apply to your non-sport card or memorabilia, you could use the two custom fields to add information specific to those cards or items and you can make use of the memo field to enter additional information. Not at this time. While we are looking into an upgrade, Version 3 makes significant changes to the database that stores the card information including the addition of several fields, one of which (Sport) is a required field for all card entries. If and when an upgrade is available we will make an announcement on the Sportscard Organizer website.
Since we provide a free 30-day demo to test the software before you decide to purchase it or not, most purchases are considered final with no refund. For a full description of our return policy click.
Sportscard Organizer can only handle a 4-digit year. So for basketball or hockey sets that use a multi-year designation such as 2012-2013, you will need to choose one of the years. It is suggested that you be consistent with the method you choose for all of the basketball or hockey cards you enter into the software. For example, you can choose to enter the first year, the second year, or the year the actual set was released. Installation Questions.
